Neasden is NW10, over the North Circular from Wembley, and the road runs straight through the middle of it. The Jubilee line station on Neasden Lane opened in 1880, the Grange, an old farm outbuilding that is now Grade II listed, sits in the middle of the roundabout, and the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir stands on Brentfield Road. Our rates are the same as in Wembley.
Two sides of the road
Neasden’s older streets are Victorian and Edwardian terraces, with interwar semis on the roads built out from the station in the 1920s and 1930s. West of the North Circular, away from the station, is the St Raphael’s Estate, low-density council housing put up between 1967 and 1982, next to Brent Park. Tell us which side you are on when you ring, because the route in from Wembley is different for each. On the estate, tell us the nearest road to your front door as well, so we know how much hose to bring in.
A terrace, front to back
A terraced house has no side gate, so the machine comes in through the front door and the hose runs down the hall to the back room. Clear the buggy and the bikes out of the hall before we arrive and setting up takes a few minutes. With no side way, the hall carpet also carries every trip out to the garden, which is why it tends to be the darkest carpet in the house. It is £22, and it gets a pre-spray and extra passes.
Three bedrooms, one of them a box room, plus a through lounge, the stairs, the landing and the hallway come to £234. A three-seater sofa is £83 on the same visit.
Festival days on Brentfield Road
At Diwali and the Hindu New Year the Mandir welcomes tens of thousands of visitors, and Brentfield Road fills with stalls and crowds. For homes near the Mandir we keep clear of those days or arrive first thing. If you want the carpets fresh before family come for Diwali, book the week before rather than the day before, so the rooms are dry and the furniture is back with days to spare.
We check the stadium fixture list for Neasden bookings too, as we do for every job.
